Privacy Policy

For a private, non-commercial website. Last updated: 02 Jun 2026

1. Controller

This website is operated privately and non-commercially. Contact: fictiontale@freeprogger.de

2. Access logs

When you visit this website, the hosting provider may process technical access data such as IP address, date and time of access, requested page, browser type, operating system, referrer URL, and HTTP status code. This is necessary to deliver the website securely and reliably.

Legal basis, where the GDPR applies: Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, legitimate interest in operating, securing, and troubleshooting the website.

3. Cookies, local storage, and login sessions

The public reading pages do not use advertising, analytics, profiling, or third-party tracking cookies.

The protected writer/admin area uses a technically necessary PHP session cookie to keep logged-in users authenticated and to protect forms against misuse. This session cookie is required for the service requested by the logged-in user and is not used for advertising or analytics.

The cookie notice itself stores only a local browser flag named finctiontale_cookie_notice_ack_v1 after you press “OK, understood”. This prevents the notice from appearing on every page view. No optional cookies are set before or after this acknowledgement.

4. User accounts and content

If a writer/admin account is created, the site stores the username, display name, role, password hash, and creation timestamp. Novel and chapter content entered by logged-in users is stored in JSON files on the server.

5. Uploaded images

Uploaded cover images or chapter images are stored on the server and may be publicly visible when used in published content. Do not upload images containing personal data unless you have the right to publish them.

6. No analytics, advertising, or profiling

This website does not intentionally use advertising trackers, analytics profiles, newsletters, or automated decision-making.

7. Recipients and processors

Data may be processed by the hosting provider as a technical processor. Data is not sold or shared for marketing purposes.

8. Storage duration

Account and content data is stored until it is deleted by an administrator. Server logs are retained according to the hosting provider’s retention settings.

9. Your rights

Where the GDPR applies, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

10. Note

This template is provided for private, non-commercial use and should be adapted with the real operator/contact details and hosting-provider retention information.

11. External author links

Authors may add voluntary external links, for example to Patreon, PayPal, Ko-fi, social media, or similar services. These links are normal outbound links and no data is intentionally transferred to those services by this website before a visitor clicks them. After clicking, the external provider is responsible for its own data processing, cookies, payment processing, and privacy notices.

Community comments

When the community comment function is used, the website stores the submitted display name, optional email address, comment text, target page, timestamp, and a hashed IP address for basic abuse prevention. The public website only displays the display name, comment text, and date. The optional email address is not published and is used only for private follow-up if needed.

Comments are stored in JSON files outside the public webroot. You can request correction or deletion of your comment by contacting the site operator listed in the legal notice.
